Project Coordinator

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Location: Remote

Summary

NVRC is seeking a dynamic and organized Project Coordinator who will provide support to our critical, ongoing DoD programs. This individual will manage project(s) scope, schedule, and budget for sponsored projects across the organization. Additionally, this position will collaborate with NVRC’s Procurement leadership personnel to coordinate and execute administrative and procurement activities. The successful candidate will have proven hands-on experience as a project coordinator or assistant project manager providing support for technically focused clients. Must have excellent attention to detail and be a self-starter.

Tasks and Duties

Managing project resources, tracking project expenditures, organizing and preparing correspondence; developing reports and other documentation; scheduling meetings and events; procuring and tracking hardware and software; and completing database entries in NVRC’s data environment. 

Job Purpose

Initiate, plan, monitor and control, and close projects to meet business or sponsor requirements. Required to progressively elaborate high-level information into detailed plans throughout the project life cycle. Project Coordinators help manage the project, program or portfolio team to meet the project or sponsor objectives. Project Coordinators monitor and control the work of producing the products, services or results that the project was undertaken to produce. Success is measured by product and project quality, timeliness, budget compliance, and degree of customer satisfaction. Project Coordinators must meet all compliance and other regulatory requirements throughout a project’s life cycle to successfully close out the time-bound project, program or portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic project plans including documents detailing all aspects of a project from initiation to closeout.
  • Act as the project’s primary interface with support units.
  • Manage relationships to handle administrative challenges.
  • Participate in programmatic discussions and updates during team meetings and prioritize administrative needs for the technical lead.
  • Validate monthly project expenditures against project schedule and burn plan.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as assistant project manager or project coordinator
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 2-5 years of experience as assistant project manager or project coordinator
  • Experience supporting technical and engineering projects for DoD
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Education and Length of Experience

  • 2 years of related experience, post Bachelor’s degree completion
  • 0 years of related experience, post Masters’ degree

Travel Requirements

10% – 25% travel

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
